Why Trust Us With Your Engine?

Diesel engine rebuild is precision work — specs measured in thousandths, torque in precise sequence, and emissions systems that require factory tools. Our techs have the training and equipment to do it right.

Factory Certified Techs

Bobcat Platinum, plus DEVELON and Kubota factory training — including the diesel engine schools that cover every model we represent.

OEM Diagnostic Tools

Bobcat ServiceAnalyzer, DEVELON DDT, and Kubota Diagnostic Assistant let us read live engine data, fault codes, injector trim values, and DPF state — not just generic codes.

Tier 4 Emissions Trained

DPF cleaning, forced regen, DEF/SCR system diagnostics, and emissions derate resolution on the latest Bobcat R2-Series, DEVELON, and Kubota Tier 4 Final engines.

Genuine OEM Parts

OEM pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, head bolts, and injectors. Engine rebuilds aren't the place for cheap aftermarket parts — we don't cut corners on internals.

Machine Shop Support

Cylinder head resurfacing, valve jobs, block bore and hone, crank inspection — through trusted machine shop partners or in-house depending on the work.

Warranty & Reman Options

Full rebuild, factory reman engine swap, or short-block install — we'll quote each option and help you pick the right balance of cost, downtime, and warranty coverage.

⚠ Signs of Engine Trouble

Engine Failure Symptoms

Diesel engines warn before they fail. If you're seeing any of these, get the machine in early — the cost difference between catching it and ignoring it is huge.

Excessive Smoke

Black (over-fueling), blue (oil burning), or white (coolant or fuel). Each color points to a different problem.

Knocking or Rattling

Top-end tick, bottom-end knock, or injector rattle. Worn bearings, valve issues, or fuel timing problems.

Loss of Power

Won't pull like it used to, slow throttle response, weak under load. Could be fueling, air, compression, or emissions related.

Hard Starting / No Start

Long cranking, won't start cold, no start at all. Glow plugs, batteries, fuel system, or compression.

Oil or Coolant Loss

External leaks, oil in coolant, coolant in oil, daily fluid loss. Could be head gasket, seals, or cracked block.

Overheating

Temp gauge climbing, coolant boiling, hot dash warnings. Cooling system, water pump, or thermostat — or internal head gasket failure.

DPF / Emissions Derate

Repeated forced regens, DPF differential pressure faults, DEF system codes, derate to limp mode.

Excessive Blow-By

Heavy crankcase pressure, oil being pushed out the breather, oily intake. Worn rings, cylinders, or valve guides.

Check Engine / Fault Codes

Active or stored DTCs, warning lights, derate messages. Diagnostics first — not parts guessing.

Fuel in Oil / Oil in Coolant

Rising oil level, fuel smell in oil, milky coolant. Injector leak, head gasket, oil cooler failure — serious, don't run it.

⚡ How It Works

Our Engine Repair Process

Diagnose first, quote next, repair third — you always know what's happening and what it costs before parts get ordered.

1

Diagnose

OEM diagnostic software, compression and leakdown testing, visual inspection. We find the root cause before quoting.

2

Quote & Options

Written estimate covering each repair path — in-frame, out-of-frame, or reman swap — with trade-offs explained.

3

Repair

Genuine OEM parts, factory torque specs and sequences, machine shop work performed by trusted partners or in-house.

4

Break-In & Test

Initial break-in run, oil change at the recommended interval, full diagnostic verification before the machine goes back to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about diesel engine rebuild cost, turnaround, in-frame vs out-of-frame, reman swap, and Tier 4 emissions. Don't see your question? Give us a call.

Find a Location 1-888-380-6420
How much does a diesel engine rebuild cost?
Costs vary widely depending on engine size, repair scope, and parts availability. A head gasket repair on a small compact-equipment engine might be $1,500-$3,000. A full out-of-frame rebuild on a wheel loader engine can run $10,000-$25,000+. A reman engine swap often falls in between with the fastest turnaround. We provide written estimates after diagnostics.
What's the difference between in-frame and out-of-frame?
In-frame rebuild leaves the block in the machine and replaces wear items accessible from the top — liners, pistons, rings, rod bearings, head gasket. Out-of-frame removes the engine for full teardown including crank inspection, main bearings, block machining, and complete rebuild. Out-of-frame is more thorough but takes longer and costs more.
Should I rebuild or just swap in a reman engine?
Depends on machine value, downtime tolerance, and parts availability. A reman swap is fastest (often 1-2 weeks vs 3-6 weeks for rebuild), comes with manufacturer warranty, and avoids the unknowns that surface during teardown. A rebuild can be cheaper if your block and crank are in good shape. We'll quote both so you can decide.
How long does a rebuild take?
In-frame rebuilds typically run 2-3 weeks depending on parts. Full out-of-frame overhauls including machine shop work take 4-8 weeks. Reman engine swaps are usually 1-2 weeks. Tier 4 emissions service alone (DPF clean, regen, DEF diagnostics) is often same-week.
What brands of engines do you work on?
Factory-authorized for Bobcat, DEVELON (Doosan), and Kubota engines. We also service Yanmar, Cummins, Caterpillar/Perkins, John Deere PowerTech, and Isuzu industrial diesel engines. If you're not sure, contact us with the engine info plate — we'll confirm.
Can you fix my Tier 4 DPF / DEF problems?
Yes. We're trained on Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota Tier 4 Final emissions systems including DPF cleaning and replacement, forced regen procedures, DEF/SCR system diagnostics, NOx sensor faults, and emissions derate resolution. We use factory diagnostic software instead of guessing at parts.
Will my warranty be preserved?
For Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota machines under warranty, repairs performed with genuine OEM parts and factory procedures fully preserve coverage. We're authorized to perform warranty engine repair on your behalf so you don't have to chase claims.
Do you handle the machine shop work?
We coordinate machine shop work — cylinder head resurfacing, valve jobs, block bore and hone, crank polish or grind — through trusted regional machine shop partners. You deal with us; we manage the entire job.
Can you swap in a different engine?
For most equipment we can install OEM reman engines or new replacement engines. Engine conversions (substituting a different engine family) are case-by-case — depends on mounts, ECM compatibility, emissions compliance, and machine warranty implications. Contact us with details.

Smoke, Knock, Derate, or Won't Start?

Don't keep running a damaged diesel — small problems become major rebuilds fast. Send us the symptoms and we'll diagnose, quote, and get your machine back to work.
