★ Why Diagnostic Skill Matters

Diagnose, Don't Guess

Replacing a $400 ECM that wasn't the actual fault is expensive. Replacing the right $40 sensor on the first try isn't. Our techs have the factory tools to read what's really happening.

Factory OEM Software

Bobcat ServiceAnalyzer, DEVELON DDT, Kubota Diagnostic Assistant — we read live engine, hydraulic, and emissions data plus module-specific fault codes, not just generic OBD.

CAN Bus Diagnostics

Modern machines use CAN bus networks between controllers. Communication faults, bad terminations, and wiring issues require the right scope and protocol training to find.

Schematic-Based Repair

OEM wiring schematics, pinout charts, and connector callouts — we trace circuits properly rather than swap-and-hope.

Harness & Connector Repair

Wiring harness damage, corroded connectors, broken pins, chafed insulation — we repair to OEM standard with proper splices, heat-shrink, and sealed connectors.

Controller Programming

ECM and module programming, software updates, calibration after sensor replacement — required for proper function on most modern equipment.

Mobile Diagnostics

Most electrical diagnostics can be done on-site — our service trucks dispatch with factory software, scopes, and meters for jobsite diagnosis.

⚠ Common Electrical Symptoms

Electrical Problems We Solve

If you're chasing one of these, get the codes pulled with factory tools before swapping parts at random.

Won't Start / No Crank

Dead silent at the key, click only, slow crank. Battery, starter, safety interlock, security, or ECM issue — codes tell us which.

Check Engine / Fault Lights

Active dash warnings, persistent fault codes, derate. Pull live data and resolve the underlying circuit or sensor problem.

Intermittent Electrical

Works sometimes, doesn't others. Loose connection, corroded pin, chafed wire, or marginal sensor. Hardest faults to find, most rewarding to fix.

Dead Battery / Won't Hold Charge

Drains overnight, won't start after sitting. Could be battery, alternator output, or a parasitic draw we trace with a meter.

Erratic Gauges / Display

Cluster blank, gauges jumping, display freezing. Often CAN bus communication, controller, or power supply.

Joystick / Control Faults

Erratic controls, dead spots, won't acknowledge inputs, lockout active. Joystick electrical or interlock issue.

Lights Out or Dim

Work lights, dome, dash lights flickering or dead. Bad ground, blown fuse, switch failure, or wiring damage.

Safety Interlock Tripped

Won't run with seat occupied, controls locked out, e-stop won't reset. Seat switch, seatbelt, door switch, or ROPS interlock circuit.

Backup Camera Dead

No image, lines, or display. Camera, monitor, or wiring — we trace it and replace what's actually failed.

After Recent Storm / Lightning

Equipment hit by water, lightning, or surge. Multiple modules potentially damaged — we diagnose every controller.

⚡ How It Works

Our Diagnostic Process

Scan, trace, isolate, repair. No parts cannon — we find the actual fault before we replace anything.

1

Scan & Read

OEM software pulls active and stored codes, live data, freeze frames, module status across the CAN network.

2

Isolate the Fault

Trace circuits with schematics and a meter. Test sensors, connectors, grounds, and supply voltages until we know exactly what failed.

3

Repair to Spec

Sensor or component replacement, harness or connector repair to OEM standard with proper splice and sealing.

4

Clear & Verify

Clear codes, perform calibrations or relearn procedures, verify live data is in spec, document for warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about diagnostic charges, ECM repair, wiring harness work, and what we can do on-site vs. in-shop. Don't see your question? Give us a call.

Find a Location 1-888-380-6420
How much does diagnostic time cost?
Diagnostic is billed by the hour at our shop rate. Most issues are found within an hour with factory software; complex intermittent or CAN bus problems can take longer. We always quote a diagnostic estimate before starting, and apply diagnostic time toward the repair if you authorize the work.
Why can't a generic OBD scanner just tell you what's wrong?
Heavy equipment uses manufacturer-specific protocols (J1939, J1708) and proprietary fault codes. Generic OBD readers pull only basic codes, no live data, and no module-level information. We use Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota factory software that talks to every controller in your machine.
Can you repair a damaged wiring harness?
Yes — from a single damaged wire to complete harness sections. We use proper marine-grade splices, heat shrink with adhesive, and OEM-style connectors with correct pin and seal kits. Full harness replacement is also available when damage is too extensive.
Do I have to bring the machine in?
For most diagnostics, no. Our mobile service trucks dispatch with factory diagnostic software, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and common parts. Some bench-level component testing or extensive harness work is shop-only.
Can you reprogram or update my ECM?
Yes. We have factory tools and access to OEM software updates for Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota controllers. ECM reprogramming covers controller flash updates, calibration after sensor or component replacement, and parameter resets.
My machine just stopped working after a thunderstorm. Can you help?
Yes. Lightning strikes and electrical surges can damage multiple modules. We systematically diagnose every controller and check power supplies, grounds, and communication. Storm damage is one of the more involved diagnostic jobs but very fixable.
What brands of equipment do you handle electrically?
Factory-authorized for Bobcat, DEVELON (Doosan), and Kubota with direct OEM software access. We also work on most other makes with universal diagnostic tools and schematic-based troubleshooting — the principles are the same regardless of badge.
How long does an electrical repair take?
Simple jobs (battery, starter, alternator, basic sensor) are typically same-day. Complex diagnostics (intermittent issues, CAN bus problems, multi-module faults) can take a few hours to several days. We update you throughout so there are no surprises.
Will my warranty be preserved?
Yes. As authorized dealers for Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota, electrical repairs performed with OEM parts and factory procedures fully preserve warranty coverage. We're authorized to perform warranty electrical work on your behalf.

Won't Start? Throwing Codes? Going Crazy?

Stop guessing and start diagnosing. Factory tools, schematic-based repair, and root-cause fixes — in shop or on your jobsite.
