Specialists in Compact Excavator Repair

Compact excavators are deceptively complex machines — hydraulic precision, swing bearings, final drives, and increasingly sophisticated emissions systems. Our team has decades of dedicated excavator experience.

Portable Line Boring

Worn pin bores on excavator booms, arms, and buckets restored to spec in-place — no disassembly required, saving days of downtime versus shop-only repair.

Hydraulic Rebuild Capability

Full cylinder, pump, and motor rebuild services with hydraulic test equipment to verify performance before the machine returns to your jobsite.

Final Drive & Track Service

Final drive rebuilds, track replacement, idler & sprocket work, and undercarriage measurement to catch wear before it becomes a major rebuild.

Tier 4 Emissions Trained

DPF cleaning, forced regeneration, DEF system diagnostics, and emissions derate resolution on the latest Bobcat R2-Series, DEVELON, and Kubota excavators.

🚧 Common Problems

Excavator Issues We Fix

If you're seeing any of these on your compact excavator, get it in front of our techs before it becomes a major rebuild. Most are catchable early.

Worn Pin Bores

Slop in the boom or arm pins, oblong bores, audible knocking under load — classic candidates for in-place line boring before the entire boom needs replacement.

Hydraulic Cylinder Drift

Boom or bucket drifting down when held, slow return to neutral, visible weeping at the rod — seal kit or barrel honing usually solves it.

Loss of Hydraulic Power

Sluggish boom response, weak digging force, or aux hydraulic flow problems — diagnostics and pressure testing identify whether it's the pump, valves, or controls.

Final Drive Leak or Noise

Oil weeping at the travel motor, grinding noises while driving, or one track running slower than the other — final drive seals or planetary repair.

Track Wear & Loose Tension

Track sag, missing pads, undercarriage measurement out of spec — we replace tracks, idlers, sprockets, and rollers, and tension to factory spec.

Swing Bearing Wear

Excessive play in the upper structure, grinding during swing, slow swing response — slew ring inspection and replacement.

DPF Regeneration Failures

Tier 4 emissions derate, repeated forced regens, DPF differential pressure faults — cleaning, forced regen procedures, and DEF system diagnostics.

Won't Start / No Crank

Starter, batteries, fuel system, security/safety lockouts, controller faults — we read codes and isolate the actual cause instead of throwing parts at it.

Joystick / Pilot Issues

Erratic controls, dead spots, drift in neutral, or pattern switch failures — pilot valve service and joystick rebuild.

Overheating

Cooling fan, radiator, hydraulic oil cooler, debris buildup, or thermostat issues — full cooling system diagnostic and service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about compact excavator repair turnaround, brands we cover, line boring, and Tier 4 emissions. Don't see your question? Give us a call.

Find a Location 1-888-380-6420
What size excavators do you service?
We service the full compact excavator range from 1-ton mini models (Bobcat E10, Kubota K008) up through 16-ton machines (Bobcat E165). If your machine is heavier than 16 tons we can usually still help — contact us with the model and we'll confirm.
What brands do you work on?
We're factory-authorized for Bobcat (Platinum Certified), DEVELON (Doosan), and Kubota compact excavators. Our techs also service most other major makes including Caterpillar, John Deere, Yanmar, Takeuchi, and Volvo.
Can you bore pin holes on-site?
Yes. Our portable line boring rigs restore worn pin bores on excavator booms, arms, and buckets in-place — saving days of downtime versus shop-only repair. See our line boring page for more detail.
How long does an excavator repair take?
Turnaround depends on the repair, parts availability, and current shop load. Simple repairs (hoses, filters, fluid service) are often same-day. Major work like cylinder rebuilds, final drives, or swing bearing replacement typically takes 3-10 business days. Emergencies are prioritized.
My DPF keeps regenerating — can you fix it?
Yes. Repeated active or forced regens usually indicate either an underlying engine problem causing excess soot, or a DPF that needs cleaning. Our techs are trained on Tier 4 emissions systems for all three brands and can diagnose the root cause, perform forced regen procedures, clean or replace the DPF, and handle DEF/SCR diagnostics.
Will my warranty be preserved?
Yes. As authorized dealers for Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota, all repairs performed with genuine OEM parts and factory procedures fully preserve your standard and extended warranty coverage. We're also authorized to perform warranty repair on your behalf.
Do you do pre-purchase inspections?
Yes. Before you buy a used compact excavator, we can perform an independent inspection covering hydraulics, undercarriage measurements, pin bore wear, engine diagnostics, and structural condition. You get a written report with photos so you know exactly what you're buying.
Can you come to my jobsite?
Yes. Our fully equipped mobile service trucks dispatch anywhere in Michigan for on-site excavator repair, including portable line boring, hydraulic repair, welding, Tier 4 diagnostics, and emergency response.
How much will my excavator repair cost?
Repairs are billed on a labor + parts basis (plus travel for field calls). We always provide a written estimate before starting work, and won't exceed it without contacting you. Cost depends on the specific repair, parts required, and complexity. Submit a request and we'll give you a ballpark.
