Undercarriage & Track Service

The undercarriage is the highest-wear system on any tracked machine — and the most expensive to neglect. We measure, repair, and replace tracks, idlers, sprockets, rollers, and final drives on compact track loaders, mini excavators, dozers, and posi-track machines. Genuine OEM components, accurate wear measurement, and proper tensioning at 7 Michigan locations.

★ Why Get It Done Right

Undercarriage Done Right

Improperly tensioned tracks, mismatched components, and skipped wear measurement turn $4,000 service jobs into $25,000 complete undercarriage replacements. We do it right the first time.

Accurate Wear Measurement

Calipers, depth gauges, and pin/bushing wear charts — not eyeballed. We measure to OEM spec so you know exactly what's worn and what's not.

Genuine OEM Components

OEM Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota tracks, idlers, sprockets, and rollers — specifically designed for the loads and pin diameters of your machine.

Proper Tensioning

Track tension wrong by even half an inch dramatically shortens track life. We tension to factory spec using grease or torque-controlled tensioners.

Rubber & Steel Track

Rubber tracks for compact track loaders, mini excavators, and posi-track machines; steel tracks with pads for larger excavators — we service both.

Final Drive & Travel Motor

Final drive seal kits, planetary repair, complete travel motor rebuild. Catch leaking final drives early before bearing failure causes catastrophic damage.

Mobile Track Service

Our trucks can swap tracks and service undercarriage components on your jobsite — especially handy for machines too big to easily trailer.

⚠ Signs of Wear

Undercarriage Warning Signs

Catching wear early can save thousands. If you're seeing any of these, get the undercarriage measured before more components are damaged.

Track Sagging

Excess sag at the top of the track between rollers and idler. Tensioner problem or stretched chain.

Detracking

Track comes off the sprocket or idler on side-loads and turns. Usually tension, alignment, or worn idler/sprocket.

Wear Measurements Out of Spec

Bushing diameter, sprocket tooth wear, idler tread, or roller diameter past OEM limits. Plan replacement before catastrophic failure.

Chunking / Damaged Lugs

Rubber track lugs torn, chunked, or missing. Often from concrete, debris, or operating with worn idlers.

Noise from Undercarriage

Squealing, grinding, or clunking while tracking. Worn roller bearings, dry sprocket, or final drive issues.

Won't Track Straight

Machine pulls to one side under load, tracks at different speeds. Final drive imbalance or hydraulic issue.

Final Drive Oil Leak

Oil weeping at the travel motor / final drive seal. Catch it early before bearings run dry and the whole unit fails.

Track Slip Under Load

Tracks lose grip pushing, climbing, or carrying load. Worn lugs (rubber), worn pads (steel), or glazed track.

⚡ How It Works

Our Undercarriage Service Process

Measure first. Quote everything that needs it. Replace what's worn, leave what isn't.

1

Measure

Calipers and depth gauges on every component — track, idler, sprocket, rollers — compared to OEM service limits.

2

Written Report

Wear measurements and remaining life estimates for each component, plus a recommended-now vs. recommended-later quote.

3

Replace & Service

OEM components installed, tracks tensioned to factory spec, final drives serviced if needed.

4

Verify & Return

Track tension rechecked under load, alignment verified, machine returned ready to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about track replacement cost, when to replace components, rubber vs steel, and final drive service. Don't see your question? Give us a call.

Find a Location 1-888-380-6420
How much does it cost to replace tracks?
Rubber tracks for a compact track loader or mini excavator typically run $1,500-$4,000 per pair installed depending on size and machine. Steel track replacement on larger excavators is significantly more. We always quote both parts and labor before starting work, and we'll note any other undercarriage components that should be replaced at the same time.
How often should I replace tracks?
Rubber tracks typically last 1,200-2,000 hours depending on application, terrain, and tensioning. Concrete, abrasive soil, and improper tension cut life dramatically. Steel tracks last much longer (often 4,000+ hours) but the pin/bushing/sprocket components wear continuously and should be measured regularly.
Should I replace tracks alone or do the whole undercarriage?
Depends on wear measurements. If only the tracks are worn, replace the tracks. But if your sprockets and rollers are also at end of life, replacing tracks alone wastes the new tracks — worn sprockets accelerate new track wear. We measure everything and recommend matched replacement when warranted.
What's the difference between rubber and steel tracks?
Rubber tracks (CTLs, mini excavators) are lighter, surface-friendly, and quieter but wear faster. Steel tracks (larger excavators, dozers) handle abrasive material and last longer but tear up surfaces and weigh more. The choice is determined by your machine and application — not interchangeable.
My final drive is leaking. Can it still be saved?
Often yes, if you catch it early. A seal kit can stop the leak before bearings run dry. If you've been running it with oil low or empty for a while, the planetary or bearings may be damaged — then a complete rebuild or replacement final drive is needed. Stop running it the moment you notice the leak.
Can you do track work at my jobsite?
Yes. Our mobile service trucks can swap tracks, replace idlers/sprockets, and service final drives on-site. Especially useful for larger machines that are hard to trailer. Submit a request with your machine details and location.
What brands of tracks do you carry?
Genuine OEM tracks for Bobcat, DEVELON (Doosan), and Kubota machines. We also source quality aftermarket tracks for other makes. Track quality varies enormously between cheap and premium aftermarket — we'll explain trade-offs.
How do I know if my tracks are out of tension?
Too loose: track sags between idler and rollers, more than a couple inches of slack. Too tight: bushings and sprocket teeth wear faster, tensioner under constant load. The right tension is specified in your machine's manual; we adjust to that spec using grease or torque-controlled tensioners.
Will my warranty be preserved?
For Bobcat, DEVELON, and Kubota machines under warranty, undercarriage work performed with genuine OEM components and factory procedures fully preserves coverage. We're also authorized to perform warranty undercarriage repair on your behalf.
