Compare the platforms
Sub-compacts suit properties up to a few acres: mowing, light loader work, snow removal and chores. More acreage or heavier jobs step you up to the compact 2000, 4000 and 5000 platforms. The utility 6000 platform handles large acreage and ground-engaging work.

Tractor questions
It depends on your acreage and your jobs. Sub-compacts (CT1021, CT1025) handle a few acres of mowing, light loader work and snow. Bigger properties and heavier work step up to the compact CT2000, CT4000 and CT5000 platforms, and the utility UT6000 platform is built for large acreage and ground-engaging work. Tell us your property and implements and we'll size it for you.
Size and power. Bobcat's sub-compacts run 21–24.5 HP and fit tight spaces around sheds and barns. Compacts run 24.5–57.7 HP across three platforms, with open or cab stations and bigger loaders. Utility tractors run 66.4–73.1 HP with a powershuttle transmission and lift up to 3,898 lb on the 3-point hitch.
Hydrostatic (HST) uses two pedals, forward and reverse, with no clutch: the easiest choice for loader work and mowing. Manual / synchro shuttle models use gears and a clutch, a good fit for long pulls at steady speed. E-HST on the CT5000 adds electronic cruise control, a linked pedal, a speed-limit switch and anti-stall. The UT6000 utility tractors use a powershuttle.
PTO stands for power take-off: a spinning shaft that sends engine power to an implement so it can cut, till or blow snow. The rear PTO runs 540 rpm implements like rotary cutters, tillers and snow blowers. Sub-compacts also have a mid PTO for a belly-mounted mower, and it's an option on many compact models.
It's the three-arm linkage on the back of the tractor that attaches, lifts and lowers implements like box blades, rotary cutters, tillers and snow blowers hydraulically. Lift capacity grows with the platform, from 700 lb on the sub-compacts to 3,898 lb on the UT6000.
