Forestry Mulcher Service & Repair

Forestry mulchers and their heads are the hardest-working machines in our shop — continuous high-load duty cycles eat teeth, belts, bearings, and hoses faster than anything else. As an authorized Fecon dealer, we service tracked mulchers, skid-steer and excavator mulcher attachments, and Bull Hog heads with genuine OEM teeth and the depth of mulcher-specific experience most shops don't have.

★ Why Trust Us With Your Mulcher

Specialists in High-Load Equipment

Forestry mulchers aren't like other equipment. Continuous high-load duty cycles destroy the parts most shops overlook, and most shops have never serviced one. We have, weekly — and we stock the consumables you'll inevitably need.

Authorized Fecon Dealer

Factory training on Fecon FTX-series carriers and Bull Hog mulcher heads — the most-used mulcher platform in North America. Genuine OEM parts and warranty authorization.

OEM Teeth & Consumables

Genuine carbide teeth, hammers, knives, and rotor hardware in stock. Aftermarket consumables eat your wallet through faster wear and uneven balance — we don't cut corners on what hits wood.

Hydraulic Specialty

Mulcher heads demand precise hydraulic flow and pressure to stay sharp and balanced. We diagnose, rebuild, and tune mulcher hydraulic systems for peak cutting performance.

Cooling & Engine Service

High-load mulcher operation cooks engines and cooling systems. We service radiators, intercoolers, fans, and Tier 4 emissions systems with mulcher-specific intervals — not generic schedules.

Push Bar & Frame Welding

Push bars, debris guards, and frame mounts take constant log impacts. Certified welders rebuild what's bent, cracked, or torn — with proper AR plate and Hardox where it matters.

Mobile Mulcher Service

Tracked mulchers don't trailer easily. Our service trucks dispatch to your jobsite for tooth changes, bearing service, hose failures, hydraulic diagnostics, and emergency repair.

⚠ Mulcher Warning Signs

Common Mulcher Problems

These are the issues that take a mulcher down on a jobsite — mostly catchable early if you know what to look for. We see them every week.

Lost Cutting Performance

Mulcher won't chew like it used to, has to slow way down on hardwoods. Usually worn or missing teeth, but can also be hydraulic flow or pressure problem.

Excessive Vibration

Head shakes hard at speed. Missing teeth on one side, broken hammer, damaged rotor, or worn bearings — balance is critical and dangerous when wrong.

Bearing Noise / Whine

Rumble, growl, or whine from the head when running. Rotor bearings under continuous load wear out — replace before they seize and destroy the rotor.

Hydraulic Oil Overheating

Hydraulic temp climbing, derate on hot days. Cooler debris, weak fan, oil contamination, or underpowered system for the head you're running.

Engine Overheating

Coolant temp warnings, fan running constantly. Cooling fins packed with mulched debris, radiator damage, or thermostat failure.

Hydraulic Hose Failures

Hose blowouts, oily mess on the rear of the head. Abrasion from debris, age, or routing issue — we replace and reroute with proper guards.

Belt Slipping / Burning

Drive belt squealing, smoking, or breaking. Tension, alignment, or worn pulleys — belt problems destroy production days fast.

Tooth Wear Pattern Off

Teeth wearing unevenly across the rotor. Bent shaft, damaged holder pockets, or operator technique — we measure and recommend rotor service before it cascades.

DPF Regen Issues

Repeated active regens, derate to limp mode. Mulchers have high duty cycles that can overwhelm DPFs — we diagnose root cause, not just clean the filter.

Push Bar / Frame Damage

Bent push bar, cracked frame, damaged guards from log impacts. Welding repair with proper AR plate, plus reinforcement for repeat-offender areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Fecon service, mulcher head repair, teeth, and what we can do on-site versus in-shop. Don't see your question? Give us a call.

Find a Location 1-888-380-6420
Do you stock Fecon teeth and parts?
Yes — we're an authorized Fecon dealer and stock genuine Fecon teeth, hammers, knives, holders, and common wear parts at our Michigan locations. We can also expedite less-common parts from Fecon directly.
How often should I change teeth?
Tooth life depends entirely on what you're mulching — clean softwood can stretch a set, while dirty wood and hardwood drastically shortens it. Most production operators check teeth daily and replace as needed. Run a full set rather than mixing worn and new to keep the rotor balanced.
Can you rebuild a damaged mulcher rotor?
Yes. We can rebuild rotors including replacing damaged holders, repairing shaft damage, and rebalancing. Severely damaged rotors are sometimes more economical to replace — we'll measure, quote both options, and let you decide.
What brands of mulchers do you service?
We're authorized Fecon dealer with deep specialty in their FTX carriers and Bull Hog heads. We also service Denis Cimaf, FAE, Diamond, Loftness, and most other forestry mulcher brands. If you're not sure, contact us with the model.
Can you service my mulcher on-site?
Yes for many services — tooth changes, hose replacement, hydraulic diagnostics, belt service, push bar welding, and emergency repair. Major head rebuilds or rotor work usually need to come to the shop.
How long does mulcher service take?
Tooth changes are typically same-day or next-day. Bearing replacement and head rebuilds take 3-7 business days depending on parts. Major rotor work can run 1-2 weeks. We prioritize machine-down situations for working contractors.
Will my Fecon warranty be preserved?
Yes. As an authorized Fecon dealer, work performed with genuine Fecon parts and factory procedures fully preserves warranty coverage. We're authorized to perform warranty repair on your behalf.
Do you offer mulcher preventative maintenance?
Yes. Mulcher PM is critical because of the high-load duty cycle. We offer mulcher-specific PM programs with bearing inspections, hose checks, cooling system cleaning, and fluid sampling tailored to high-load operation rather than generic intervals.
What if my push bar or frame is damaged?
Our certified welders rebuild bent push bars, cracked frames, and damaged guards using AR plate where impacts repeat. We also add reinforcement to known failure-prone areas if you've been hitting the same problem repeatedly.
