What Makes the CT1021 Different
The Most Affordable Way Into a Bobcat
As the entry model of the sub-compact 1000 platform, the CT1021 HST is the lowest-cost path to owning a genuine Bobcat tractor. It shares the platform's chassis, comfort and attachment lineup, so first-time owners get a real Bobcat without stretching the budget.
Twin-Pedal, No-Clutch Operation
The infinite 2-range hydrostatic drive uses simple twin pedals — push forward to move out, the other to reverse, with nothing to shift and no clutch to feather. Built-in cruise control holds a steady pace for mowing and loader passes, so the CT1021 is approachable from the very first hour.
Right-Sized 21 HP Diesel
A liquid-cooled 3-cylinder Daedong diesel turns out 21 gross horsepower from 62 cubic inches — plenty of muscle for smaller properties, lawn-and-garden care and light loader chores without paying for more tractor than a hobby farm needs. Tier 4 clean with no DPF to manage in this class.
Belly Mower & Rear PTO Ready
An independent 540-rpm rear PTO spins augers and rotary cutters, while the 2,200-rpm mid PTO drives a belly mower for clean finish cuts on the lawn. With 16.3 PTO horsepower the CT1021 keeps grass, gardens and groundskeeping handled on smaller acreage.
Loader, Backhoe & Cat 1 Hitch
An optional front loader lifts about 608 lbs to its 72-inch pivot-pin height, and the machine accepts the BH66 backhoe plus a Category 1 three-point hitch rated to 700 lbs. Light loader work, digging and standard Cat 1 implements are all within reach on this entry tractor.
Compact, Easy to Trailer
At 45.7 inches wide, 99.3 inches long and just 1,521 lbs with an 8.4-foot turning radius, the CT1021 slips through standard gates, tucks into a small shed and loads onto a light trailer — a perfect fit for tight residential lots and hobby farms.
Standard 4WD for Snow & Soft Ground
Standard four-wheel drive and wet multi-disc brakes give the CT1021 sure footing for pushing snow, crossing soft spring ground and climbing modest grades. Top speeds of 11.1 mph forward and 7.6 mph reverse make quick work of moving around the property.
Comfortable, Owner-Friendly Operator Area
A foldable open ROPS, suspension seat, tilt steering and 7.2 gpm power steering keep the CT1021 easy and comfortable to run all afternoon, and a safety seat switch plus full lighting let weekend owners work confidently into the evening.

CT1021 Features & Benefits
Performance 9
Hydrostatic Transmission (2-Range HST)
A 2-range hydrostatic transmission (HST) changes speed through hydraulic pressure, so driving feels much like a car — you only pause to swap ranges. It shines for the stop-and-go of loader work, mowing and brush clearing, and because forward and reverse run off two foot pedals, it's wonderfully easy for first-time operators to pick up.
Independent PTO
With an independent power take-off (PTO), a simple switch engages or disengages the PTO — no stopping the tractor, no clutch. That's a real time-saver on jobs full of starts and stops, like working an auger from one hole to the next.
Power Take-Off (PTO)
Power take-off is what lets one tractor do so much — till the garden, seed a food plot, clear weeds from ditches and pastures, bore fence-post holes, or knock out an afternoon of mowing. The CT1021 pairs a standard 540-rpm rear PTO with a 2,200-rpm mid PTO for a belly mower, and together with the three-point hitch it runs implement after implement.
Three-Point Hitch
The three-point hitch is what makes the CT1021 a true do-anything machine — mowing, tilling, driveway grading, raking, snow moving and more. It takes the full range of Category 1 implements and is built to make hooking them up quick and painless.
Three Tire Options
The right tire makes a real difference, so every Bobcat compact tractor can be fitted with one of three types to suit your ground:
- Agricultural: deep, self-cleaning lugs dig in for traction in soft soil and mud and put more pull behind heavy loads and implements.
- Turf: a gentler tread that protects manicured lawns and established landscaping from scuffing and rutting.
- Industrial: wear-resistant and puncture-tough, with a wide tread that grips well across just about any surface.
Maximum Maneuverability
These sub-compacts are made to move. A well-balanced build and a turning radius as tight as 8.4 feet make the CT1021 feel nimble and responsive, while solid ground clearance keeps you going over uneven, soft or muddy ground. The stable wheelbase spreads weight evenly across all four wheels for sure footing on slopes.
Four-Wheel Drive
Traction is everything on a working tractor, and the CT1021 comes with four-wheel drive standard — grip on tap the moment a hill, a wet spot or a load of snow asks for it.
Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS)
A standard ROPS helps protect the operator if the tractor ever tips, as long as it's locked upright with the seatbelt buckled. When you need to slip under a low branch or into the garage, it folds down out of the way and pops right back up.
Leading Lift Capacity
Strong lift means more capable implements and more done per pass. The CT1021's three-point hitch handles up to 700 lbs measured 24 inches behind the lift point — right at the top of what you'll find in the sub-compact class.
Comfort 3
Operator-Friendly Controls
Everything about the CT1021 is meant to be easy to run. The control levers fall naturally to hand, and conveniences like power steering and cruise control let you manage the tractor and its implements with confidence rather than effort.
Work Lights
When daylight runs short, the lights keep you productive. Bright headlights light up the work ahead in dim conditions, and a long-life LED tail lamp keeps you visible from behind on trails, lanes and back roads.
Premium Comfort
The operator area is arranged for comfortable hours in the seat. A suspension seat takes the edge off bumps and adjusts to fit any operator, while details like an adjustable seatbelt and cup holder make long sessions easy — and the engine is tuned to run quiet with little vibration.
Uptime-Protection 3
The Bobcat Dealer Network
Quality machines are only half the story — the other half is the dealer behind them. Bobcat's network delivers local authorized service, warranty work and hard-to-beat parts availability, and a dealer like Carleton Equipment (Michigan's authorized Bobcat dealer, with 7 locations) keeps your tractor working for the long haul.
24-Month, 1,500-Hour Warranty
Your CT1021 is backed by a solid factory warranty: 24 months against defects in materials and workmanship, or 1,500 hours of use — whichever comes first.
Machine Protection
Thoughtful details help the CT1021 shrug off everyday wear:
- A heavy-duty polymer fuel tank keeps fuel clean and won't rust or contaminate over time.
- A brush guard — bundled with the front-end loader, or available on its own — shields the front end when you push through branches, brush and debris.
Versatility 1
Attachment Versatility
For the money, few machines stretch as far as a compact tractor — and Bobcat backs the CT1021 with a deep catalog of implements and attachments to maximize your return. Mow the yard, auger holes for new trees, muck out the barn, move hay, smooth the gravel drive or clear snow from the house and outbuildings. Between the available attachments and 3-point implements, the list of jobs it'll tackle is a long one.
Serviceability 3
One-Side Maintenance
Keeping up with maintenance is easy when everything's in reach. The CT1021 groups its daily checks, fluid fills and filters on one side of the engine, so routine upkeep takes just a few minutes.
One-Piece Engine Hood
No panels to wrestle off — the one-piece hood lifts on an air-cylinder assist to open the whole engine bay at once, putting nearly every service point right in front of you.
All-In-One Fuse and Relay Box
Fuses and relays live in one central box, so swapping a fuse or chasing down an electrical gremlin is refreshingly simple.

Frequently Asked Questions
New to tractors? Here are the answers buyers ask us most — in plain language.
What is a sub-compact tractor?
Sub-compact tractors are agile, adaptable machines used for lawn and garden, light agriculture, snow removal and landscaping work. Small enough to maneuver tight jobs, they work inside and around sheds, barns and animal enclosures.
Popular for both personal and professional use, sub-compact tractors still have enough power to take on heavy-duty jobs — which is why they've become ideal equipment for hobby farms. Many include operator-friendly controls that make them perfect for beginner operators.
Attachments add year-round versatility. Front-end loaders are the most popular, letting you haul, scoop, grade and more, while options like mid-mount mowers, box blades and backhoes maintain lawns, backfill driveways and dig ditches.
Bobcat's 1000 platform offers two sub-compact models — the CT1021 and CT1025 — each with a convenient 46-inch width, Limited Category 1 three-point hitch and an easy-to-learn hydrostatic transmission.
Are sub-compact tractors easy to operate?
Whether you're an expert operator or it's your first time on a piece of equipment, Bobcat sub-compact tractors are designed for simplicity.
- Operator-friendly controls make it easy for users of all skill levels to get the job done.
- Hydrostatic models use simple twin-pedal travel control: one pedal moves you forward, the other in reverse — no clutch, no gear shifting.
- Operator stations and cabs are loaded with comfort features that help every operator feel at ease in the seat.
How much does a sub-compact tractor weigh?
Sub-compact tractors, like the Bobcat CT1021 and CT1025, have operating weights around 1,500 pounds.
Compact tractors range between roughly 2,000 and 4,000 pounds depending on the model, and articulating tractors weigh in around 1,850 pounds.
What attachments do I need for a sub-compact tractor?
Bobcat offers a wide variety of sub-compact tractor attachments and implements — with a handful of the right tools you can adapt your machine to all kinds of jobs.
A front-end loader is a must-have for many owners:
- Take on digging, dirt moving, loading and carrying material.
- The included quick-tach system lets you hook up a wide selection of front-mounted attachments.
When you purchase a Bobcat compact tractor, you can get a free front-end loader* in lieu of financing — see our current offer for details.
*Limited-time offer. Financing and the free front-end loader are mutually exclusive. See dealer for complete details and eligibility.
What size tractor do I need?
It comes down to your acreage and the jobs you have in mind. Sub-compact tractors — the Bobcat 1000 platform, like the CT1021 and CT1025 — are sized for properties up to a few acres: mowing, light loader work, snow removal and everyday chores around the house, barn or hobby farm.
As your acreage grows or the jobs get heavier (bigger implements, more lifting, faster road speeds), you step up to the compact 2000–5000 platforms, and finally the utility 6000 platform for large-acreage, ground-engaging work. Use the platform comparison chart above to match horsepower, lift capacity and travel speed to your property — and when in doubt, our team can size the right machine for your land.
Do I need 4WD?
For most owners, yes — and every Bobcat sub-compact tractor comes with four-wheel drive (4x4) standard. Powering all four wheels gives you the traction to climb hills, push through mud and snow, and dig or push with the loader without spinning out.
It also keeps you working in conditions that would leave a two-wheel-drive machine stuck. On a sub-compact you'll appreciate it most during loader work and winter snow removal.
What's a PTO and what does it do?
PTO stands for “power take-off” — a spinning shaft that sends the engine's power straight to an attachment so the implement can do its work, whether that's cutting, tilling or blowing snow.
Sub-compact tractors like the CT1025 have two. The rear PTO (540 rpm) drives three-point implements such as rotary cutters, tillers, post-hole augers and snow blowers, while the mid PTO (2,200 rpm) powers a belly-mounted mid-mount mower for finish mowing. The CT1025's independent PTO puts about 18.8 PTO horsepower to those tools.
What's a 3-point hitch (and what's Category 1)?
The three-point hitch is the three-armed linkage at the back of the tractor that attaches, lifts and lowers rear implements — box blades, rotary cutters, tillers, land graders, snow blowers and more — hydraulically as you work.
“Category 1” refers to the hitch's standardized size and pin dimensions, which is the norm for sub-compact and compact tractors, so it accepts the huge range of Cat 1 implements on the market. The CT1025 uses a Limited Category 1 hitch with a Hydraulic Position Control System that holds your implement at a consistent height, and it lifts up to 700 lbs measured 24 inches behind the lift point.
How much can a sub-compact tractor lift and tow?
On the Bobcat CT1025, the front-end loader lifts about 608 lbs to full height for scooping, carrying and loading material, while the rear three-point hitch lifts up to 700 lbs (24 inches behind the lift point) to raise and run ground-engaging implements.
Towing depends on your drawbar setup, the terrain and the load — sub-compacts comfortably pull utility carts, small trailers, yard rollers and similar loads. For a specific towing figure or a heavier job, talk to our team and we'll match the machine and setup to what you're pulling.
