Description
Bobcat L28 Small Articulated Loader
The Bobcat L28 small articulated loader is a compact machine that easily works inside fenced-in landscapes, pens, backyards and more, offering impressive lifting capacity and an extendable boom for added reach. Its tight-turning articulation joint improves maneuverability while the nimble design offers a light footprint for minimal damage to turf. Plus, you can add a variety of Bobcat attachments to maximize your productivity even further.
What Makes the L28 Different
Telescoping Lift Arm
The L28's telescoping lift arm extends lifting height beyond the standard L23, with a dual-cylinder design that keeps the load level as you raise it. A hydraulic leveling link maintains optimal bucket rollback at full height — reducing spillage and keeping material in the bucket where it belongs.
Articulated Steering & Tight Turning Radius
The articulation joint enables rear tires to follow the exact path of the front tires, making the L28 exceptionally nimble in tight yards, enclosed spaces, and confined job sites where larger equipment can't maneuver.
Auto Traction Modes
High-Traction mode for control over rough and slippery terrain. Turf-Safe mode for minimal ground disturbance on finished surfaces. The machine switches automatically based on conditions — with an optional traction assist switch to override when needed.
Heavy Lifting with Standard Counterweight
A standard integrated counterweight delivers optimal lift capacity in a compact package. Add optional rear counterweights to further increase lift performance on demanding jobs.
Twin-Pedal Travel Controls
One pedal forward, one pedal reverse — the intuitive twin-pedal design is fast to learn and easy to operate. A great fit for seasonal workers, rental customers, or operators running multiple machine types.
25 HP Low-RPM, High-Torque Engine
The 25-hp engine running at 2,600 rpm delivers generous torque at lower speeds — more forgiving under load and easier on fuel compared to high-RPM alternatives.
Power Bob-Tach System
Change non-hydraulic attachments without leaving the cab using the optional Power Bob-Tach system. Compatible with 30+ Bobcat attachments for jobs ranging from snow removal and brushwork to digging and pallet handling.
Machine IQ Telematics
Monitor location, health, and security status 24/7 from the Owner Portal or Machine IQ mobile app. Remote engine disable/enable, geofence alerts, fault code notifications, and utilization reports keep you in control from anywhere.

L28 Features & Benefits
Performance 8
Tight Turning Radius
Small articulated loaders deliver precise maneuverability. The articulation joint enables the rear tires to match the path of the front tires as they turn, resulting in a highly nimble machine that navigates around obstacles with ease and works well in enclosed yards and small work zones.
Minimal Ground Disturbance
With their tight-turning articulated steering and light overall footprint, Bobcat® small articulated loaders limit cuts or tears in the turf when turning or hauling a load. After the job is complete, you'll have fewer time-consuming surface repairs to make.
Heavy Lifting Capacity, Small Package
Bobcat® small articulated loaders can lift and handle heavy loads, and they include a standard integrated counterweight for optimal lift capacity. You can add on optional rear counterweights to further increase lift capacity and productivity.
Easy to Transport
Small articulated loaders are highly transportable and relatively lightweight, enabling you to quickly get your machine to the job and get to work. They easily fit on pan trailers or dump trailers – and even some enclosed trailers that are used to transport small-frame skid-steer loaders.
Low-RPM, High-Torque Engine
The dependable 25-hp, 2,600 rpm engine provides generous torque at a lower rpm, offering performance that is more forgiving when pushing the machine to its limit under load.
Efficient Cooling
Side and front inlets bring cool air into the engine compartment and send it through the screened rear exit. The rear radiator screen is removable for easy cleanout, and its corrugated steel construction provides excellent durability. A separate temperature-controlled hydraulic oil cooler operates as needed to ensure quieter operation as well.
Telescoping Lift Arm
The telescoping lift arm extends your lifting height and includes an innovative dual-cylinder design that keeps the load level as you move the bucket and handle materials up high. The telescopic cylinder is synchronized with a hydraulic leveling link, providing leveling assist and preventing spillage over the back of the bucket. When handling materials up high, many small articulated loaders allow the bucket to roll back toward the cab, causing material to spill. Bobcat small articulated loaders make operation easier by maintaining optimal bucket rollback at full height and reducing material spillage.
High Tractive Effort
Based on operating conditions, Bobcat® small articulated loaders automatically enable one of two traction modes — High-Traction mode for control over rough and slippery terrain or Turf-Safe mode for the least possible ground disturbance. The optional traction assist switch enables you to momentarily override the automatic modes to travel through adverse conditions.
Uptime-Protection 2
Cab Corner Protection
To protect the machine when working in tight areas and around obstacles, Bobcat® small articulated loaders have cab corner protection. Rubber bumpers help protect the cab's corners while articulating the loader.
Rear Guard (Optional)
Add additional protection — and worry less about potential impact damage to the cooling package and radiator — by installing the optional rear guard accessory.
Comfort 5
Intuitive Twin-Pedal Travel Controls
A simple twin-pedal design enables quick and easy direction changes: one pedal moves you forward, the other moves you in reverse. This style of travel control is easy for operators to master, making the L28 a great choice for seasonal employees or rental customers. It's also convenient for operators who need to understand controls for multiple machines.
Cross-Ventilation Windows
Side and rear windows open to provide fresh airflow through the cab. The cab can be optioned to include a sliding side window making it easier to control cab ventilation, providing another option for communication with bystanders and improved comfort.
Spacious Cab
Compared to other small articulated loaders, the interior of Bobcat models is engineered with more space for the operator, with special attention paid to cab height, foot room and room between the seat and the steering wheel. More room leads to better productivity during long hours on the job.
Ergonomic Controls
The steering wheel and joystick are simple to reach and intuitive to use, with fingertip auxiliary or telescopic controls that facilitate quick, simple operation — as compared to mechanical switches. Bobcat® small articulated loaders also provide variable flow control similar to skid-steer and compact track loaders, unlike the standard mechanical levers found in other machines.
Enclosed, Heated Cab (Optional)
Add the optional cab enclosure with heated seat and you'll stay comfortable and productive in cold and wet weather. Strategically placed louvered vents quickly defrost windows and provide direct heat. A rear defrost window and automotive-style rear defroster help maintain visibility in varying weather conditions. Window panels can be added or removed to adapt with the weather in every season.
Serviceability 5
Standard Instrumentation
Small articulated loaders feature an easy-to-read, backlit instrumentation panel that provides visibility to operating information, critical machine errors and warnings.
Easy Battery Terminal Access
Designed to make daily maintenance and regular service easy and efficient. Features easy access to the battery terminal, a high-capacity air filter for long life, a maintenance-free engine accessory drive belt, and centrally located access to fuses and relays.
High-Capacity Air Filter
The dual-element, high-capacity filter with visual indicator delivers clean airflow to your engine and excellent contaminant-holding capacity for long life and maximum component protection.
Maintenance-Free Engine Accessory Drive Belt
A dependable serpentine accessory drive belt requires no tensioning and no maintenance.
Central Fuse and Relay Access
Fuses and relays are centrally located behind a cover inside the cab for quick, easy access during service.
Versatility 3
Power Bob-Tach System
Bobcat® small articulated loaders feature the Bob-Tach® attachment mounting system for using a variety of attachments. They can also be equipped with the optional Power Bob-Tach system for changing non-hydraulic attachments without leaving the comfort of your cab.
Auxiliary Hydraulics
A maximum flow of up to 12 gpm and up to 2,900 psi gives you powerful attachment performance and superb work results. Pressure-release quick couplers relieve system pressure for easy hydraulic hookup and removal.
30+ Compatible Bobcat Attachments
With 30+ compatible attachments, the L28 can be used to complete many kinds of unique jobs that usually require multiple machines. Whether it's handling dirt and snow, digging holes, doing brushwork or moving pallets of materials — with the right attachment, you can adapt to a new task in minutes.
Digital Connectivity 1
Machine IQ Telematics
Available in the Owner Portal and Machine IQ mobile app, Machine IQ telematics lets you monitor your machine's location, health, and security status so you're always in control. Protect your equipment with remote engine disable/enable, geofence boundaries, motion detection and curfew alerts. Reduce downtime with proactive critical fault code notifications and maintenance reminders. Improve performance with utilization reports that track working hours, idle time, and fuel usage.
